Like a Friend

I love hot summer days

In which life sparkles bright

And the glistening rays

From a star in the night

Shine on something that lays

All alone and needs light

And the star, there it stays

Like a friend

I love days that are cold

With iced patterns of lace

Where fires softly fold

And warm up the face

Of a man that is old

All alone in his place

And the flame, it stands bold

Like a friend

I love new fallen snow

That adds white to the black

That help rivers flow

Through their weather carved track

To the valleys below

And then they turn back

Helping everything grow

Like a friend

I love deep skies of blue

Spreading sunshine for miles

That dried up the dew

That dampened our smiles

With thoughts about you

And your fun loving styles

Through old times and new
